Visiting Tutor for "The Story of Mathematics" Robin Wilson is an Emeritus Professor of Pure Mathematics at the Open University, an Emeritus Professor of Geometry at Gresham College, London, a former Fellow of Keble College, Oxford University, and now teaches for Pembroke College, Oxford. He is President-elect of the British Society for the History of Mathematics and is Vice-President and former President of the European Mathematical Society's Committee on Raising Public Awareness of Mathematics. He has written and edited a number of books on graph theory, including Introduction to Graph Theory and Four Colours Suffice, and on the history of mathematics, including Lewis Carroll in Numberland and (jointly) The Great Mathematicians. He is involved with the popularization and communication of mathematics and its history, and has been awarded two prizes by the Mathematical Association of America for 'outstanding expository writing'. He has taught at Colorado College under the block plan on at least twenty occasions, and in 2008 taught a block at Quest University Canadaon 'Mathematical puzzles'. |
