Join us and be inspired! On May 25th - 27th, discuss global issues, create action plans, and inspire change. This student-run, three-day conference, sponsored by Quest University Canada and Self Design High School, is designed to bring together students and accompanying teachers from the west coast of North America. The 2012 GIN Conference theme is 'Poverty and Inequality'. We also welcome students from all over the world to join us for the event at Quest University Canada in Squamish, BC, Canada (only 45 minutes from Vancouver)! See below for a tentative schedule. Registration for the conference is free before May 1st, 2012. On-campus accommodations are provided at no cost for the first 50 requests. Online individual and group registration now available! Please complete the online registration before May 1st, 2012. Travel grants are available for students coming from extended distances and with limited means. The travel grant application deadline is March 15th. Recipients will be notified before April 1st. The GIN conference at Quest will provide students an opportunity to showcase their achievements in promoting global issues at their schools. Students will also connect with other groups and organizations in order to brainstorm, network, and address the many pressing problems in our interconnected world. Attending students will: learn from and network with each other collaborate on a local service project within the Squamish community participate in a fair showcasing local non-profit organizations attend a documentary screening with the opportunity to talk with the directors hear from plenary speakers who are making a difference hone public speaking/presentation/networking skills. |
