Dean of Student Affairs, QUC Melanie Koenderman was appointed Dean of Student Affairs at Quest University Canada in August, 2007, and brings with her a strong background in academia that blends teaching, student affairs, and international experience. For the past six years Melanie served as a Foreign Service Officer for the Government of Canada, with postings to Singapore and London, traveling extensively for work within Southeast Asia, India, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East. Previously, Melanie worked as Program Coordinator for the Universite de Sherbrooke's English Language Summer School from 1996 to 2001, where she developed and managed all aspects of student life in this residential program for over three-hundred students. While pursuing a Master's Degree in Post-Secondary Education and Training, she was also a Residence Manager and International Student Program Coordinator at Memorial University of Newfoundland where she enjoyed working directly and daily with students, their elected leaders, and residence staff. She has also taught as a secondary school teacher of English and History in Ontario and Thailand and was extensively involved in residence government as a student at McMaster University. Melanie has returned to the field of education to join Quest University Canada with a desire to encourage students to try new experiences and follow their passion, both at the university and beyond, through the amazing possibilities for travel, study, work, and volunteering that are available to them. She also looks forward to pursuing her love of hiking and canoeing in the spectacular surroundings at Quest.
